Civilian Marksmanship Program▸The First Shot▸Sign Up Now for American Legion’s 2020 Junior Three-Position Air Rifle TournamentThe American Legion is currently holding its 31st Junior Three-Position Air Rifle Tournament, which provides sporter and precision competitors an opportunity to test their marksmanship ability in competition with other junior competitors throughout the nation.

The event, open to junior (18 and younger) individuals and club teams affiliated with an American Legion Post, is conducted in two postal phases: a first round for State Championships and a second round for qualification to the National Championship in July. The course of fire includes 60 shots for record at 10 meters (20 shots at prone, standing and kneeling positions).
Competitors registered for the match will receive official targets to be fired upon at their local ranges and returned for scoring. Distribution and scoring is administered by the Civilian Marksmanship Program (CMP).

Dates to note for the 2020-2021 American Legion Three-Position Air Rifle Championships:
• Sept. 1, 2020: Registration opens for first round of Postal Match
• Dec. 15, 2020: Registration closes for first round of Postal Match
• Feb. 1, 2021: Targets due to CMP for scoring
• Feb. 15, 2021 – Second round Postals begin
• April 1, 2021 – Second round Postals end
• July 21-24, 2021 – American Legion National Championship
Match entry is $15 per target set (six targets), which must be purchased no later than Dec. 15, 2020. The top 15 individual competitors overall from each category (sporter and precision) will be invited to participate in the National Championship.
