HAWAII – On October 27, 2015, the Kamehameha School Maui Campus in Makawao, HI, held its 15th Annual Air Riflery State Championships. The Civilian Marksmanship Program (CMP) worked in connection with the Hawaii High School Athletic Association (HHSAA) for the match. Competitors fired on the Orion Scoring System to record results of the three position event.
Winning the overall individual competition was Michelle Chan, 17, of Pac5-Hawaii Baptist Academy, with a score of 552-18x. In second was Guy Yokoe, 18, of Waiakea High School, with his score of 537-16x – narrowly beating out Meagan Nakamoto, 16, of Mid-Pacific Institute, who finished in third with a score of 537-14x.
CMP’s Chairman of the Board, Judy Legerski, as well as chief operating officer Mark Johnson and South general manager Gina Johnson, attended the event. The three CMP representatives presented a check for $6,000 to the HHSAA to help continue the promotion of junior shooting competitions in Hawaii.
