Civilian Marksmanship Program▸The First Shot▸CMP Names Top Scorers of Winter Home Range Series Rifle and Pistol EventsThe results are in! The Civilian Marksmanship Program is proud to recognize the leading scorers from the 2020-2021 Winter Home Range Series – a remote-style set of matches held over the winter months for adult and junior rifle and pistol competitors.
The Winter Home Range Series, which ran from December 2020 to February 2021, gave athletes from around the United States the chance to compete in indoor .22 pistol, air rifle, air pistol, rimfire sporter and smallbore rifle matches at their home ranges. Competitors completed their matches locally, then sent results to the CMP for verification and official listing alongside all fired matches from participating clubs and individuals.
Designed as an effective solution to various social distancing requirements throughout the nation, the Series allowed marksmanship enthusiasts an outlet for continued “head-to-head” competition while removing concern for travel or range congestion.
“With so many of our annual events cancelled throughout the year in 2020, we really wanted to be able to organize an opportunity for our competitors to gain back some of that time that was missed on the range,” said Katie Harrington, CMP program coordinator. “We were happy to be able to do that for the community of supporters who have stood by us through this challenging, yet enlightening, period in our program’s history.”
“We got creative, and it showed the sort of versatility that’s possible within the sport of marksmanship,” she added.
