On March 20, 2016, the Wildlife Committee of Washington (WCW) in Bothell, Wash., held its second CMP Garand, Springfield, Vintage Military and Modern Military of the year. In April, we will switch to the NRA National Match Course Program that will last through September. In October, we revert back to a CMP program, with the last match of the year to be conducted in December.
For this match, we had seven total participants using rifles covering most of the allowed spectrum and one that did not. Mark Moran joined in for practice using his Model 70 30-06 Match Rifle, while others used Modern Military (AR-15s) or Vintage Military, represented by Krags and a Mauser.
Fuzhou Hu had the match high score, firing 467-11X and earning a Modern Military Gold Pin. Robert Shuey was not far behind, earning a Modern Military Silver Pin with 452-6X.
Milt Schneider, using a trusty old Mauser, earned a Vintage Military Bronze pin with a 445-8X score.
The club, as a general practice, conducts a highpower match every month on the third Sunday of the month, with a couple of exceptions. There is no match held in January. This coming June, the match will be on the 12th to avoid Father’s Day.
