Welcome to the Judith Legerski CMP Competition Center!
The facility is open to the public each week to all ages and experience levels. Stop in to use our state-of-the-art indoor electronic target air gun range or visit the CMP South Store (open Thursday & Fridays).
Outside of weekly offerings, the range hosts local, regional and national air gun competitions all year long. Such popular events include Monthly Air Gun Matches and supported Bench League Matches.
The JLCCC has a little something for everyone!

$5 for Juniors and $10 for Adults and Seniors. Pellets are available for purchase at the range (500 pellets for $8.50).
We kindly ask large groups to call ahead to schedule range time at (256) 835-8455, ext 415.
Rentals
No equipment? No problem! The range offers rental items during Open Public Marksmanship.
Both air pistols and air rifles are quiet firearms with no kickback – propelled by air using lead pellets. Safe and fun for everyone!
The entire facility (common area, classroom, simulators, range) is available for rent for group meetings, team building, baby showers, birthday parties and more! Find more info: Rent our Range Flyer.
Marksmanship Simulator
The JLCCC shares two Laser Shot simulators with the CMP Talladega Marksmanship Park. These simulators feature hundreds of scenarios in an exciting and entertaining environment.
Using innovative video gaming technology and safe, modified firearms, choose from rifle, pistol or shotgun modes. Pay per play or rent by the hour! Contact JT Schnering for availability. Find more info: Marksmanship Simulator.
CMP South Store
Located in the same building as the JLCCC is the CMP South Store. Shop on Thursdays and Fridays to purchase CMP memorabilia items, surplus firearms and ammunition.
Junior Rifle Club
In October and January, CMP hosts a 10-week club for youth ages 10 and up that introduces firearm safety, marksmanship fundamentals, air rifle competition experience and life skills through fun instruction on the range!
No prior experience necessary and no initial cost. Rifles are available for loan at the range during club meetings.
The Junior Rifle Club is led by former NCAA Division I rifle athletes. Learn more: CMP Junior Rifle Club.
About Judith Legerski:
Judith Legerski is a former CMP Board Chair/CEO who was integral in the establishment of many of today’s existing programs. Legerski was an original Board member from the time of CMP’s establishment in 1996 and remained with the organization until her retirement in 2022. Leading as CEO for over a decade, she garnered a reputation as a strong advocate for youth marksmanship and is credited with cultivating the success and prestige of CMP’s Junior Rifle Camps.
Legerski has held several notable offices over her professional career including Vice-Chairman of the Department of Defense Advisory Committee for Women in the Services and Civilian Aide to the Secretary of the Army – now holding the title of Civilian Aide Emeritus. In her home state of Wyoming, Legerski continues to remain active in a variety of community and state efforts.
