CMP offers many opportunities to buy – and service – vintage rifles, including direct sales, auctions and custom gunsmithing.

If you are looking to completely outfit a custom M1 Garand, we have resources for you, as well!

The federal law that established the new CMP authorizes the Corporation to sell surplus .30 and.22 caliber military rifles, parts and ammunition to qualified U.S. citizens “for marksmanship”. Accordingly, the CMP sells government-surplus M1 Garands, .22 caliber target rifles and small quantities of other rifles to qualified purchasers.

Order Limits

Effective January 7, 2025, customers are allowed to purchase up to twelve (12) surplus rifles (any type) per year. This limit excludes .22 rifles.

Surplus Ammo Limit: 2,000 rounds per caliber per year.
Commercial Ammo Limit: None

Please note: The CMP strictly enforces the limits referenced above. The CMP, at it’s discretion, reserves the right to ban from all future sales any attempts made by customers to circumvent these limits.

ABOUT CMP SALES

CMP operations, warehousing, inspection & repair, test firing, sales order processing and distribution activities are headquartered in Anniston, Alabama.

Net revenue from CMP sales is used to fund operations and programs and to supplement a permanent endowment.

The CMP operates three successful retail stores, an online Auction Site and an online E-Store for eligible customers to make purchases.

Competitors Herb Rosenbaum and Mike Roberson dressed in uniforms during the Garand Match to honor military members of the past.

ORDER STATUS

Due to high demand for the CMP M1 Garand, it can take 8-12 weeks for customers to receive their rifle order. It could be longer depending on whether the preferred rifle is not available or we need additional documentation to process the order. CMP will email customers once their order is received, if additional documentation is needed or if there is a delay processing the order. Customers will also receive emails once their order is awaiting shipment and once their order has shipped (this email will include the Fed Ex tracking number). Customers with a CMP E-Store account may also log in and view their order details online.
