Dear CMP,

I just received my “Special Grade” M1 Garand.

The rifle is absolutely beautiful!  I cannot be more happy with my purchase.  I wanted to let you know how much I appreciate what you are doing and I fully support your mission to promote responsible firearms ownership and good marksmanship skills in the general public.

I’ve wanted a “real” M1 for many years but thought the possibility to be unlikely.  I thought any descent M1 Garands would be in the hands of collectors or would demand a premium price at an auction. I only recently learned about the CMP and I jumped at the opportunity to own a piece of American history as soon as I could.

My father passed away a few years ago and was given full military honors because of his service during the Korean war.  He always bragged about how awesome the M1 rifle was.  I used to laugh at him for being old fashioned for liking such an antique.

But now I get it.  I purchased this rifle in honor of him.  It truly is a thrill to have such a fine piece and in such excellent condition.
