The CMP

I want to thank you for the amazing M1 Garand I received a little over a month ago (OCT 2014) I’ve been handling firearms, hunting and trapping for almost 50 years. Living in Ohio most of my life I didn’t have much experience with high caliber rifles. I have a few small caliber and RF rifles and of course handguns and shotguns. Almost all of my shooting for the last 25 years has been at the range punching holes in paper.

I started looking around this year to get something larger than my 5.56 and better than my 30-30. I had finally settled on a 30-06 but everything I looked at didn’t really interest me. Then I found The CMP. I’ve lived in Ohio almost my entire life but I’d never heard of The CMP until I ran across your forum.

I decided to order a service grade. Honestly I was expecting a beat up old military surplus rifle or something with a cheap new stock. BOY WAS I WRONG !!! I knew very little about M1’s prior to my purchase other than my Grandfather carried one in WWII. What I received I could not believe. It’s a 4.3 SA with almost all correct parts including the receiver, barrel and JLG stock.

It has quickly became one of if not my most prized firearm only behind the family heirloom’s that I have had passed down to me. My Father and Father in Law also had M1’s during their service in the military in the 50’s.

Again I would like to Thank You for giving me the chance to own a wonderful piece of our American history and also a GREAT shooting firearm. It was a very easy transaction and was less than a month wait from order received at The CMP until it was delivered to my front door. I had compliments from everyone at our range during its first trip.

I look forward to a visit to the CMP North store to get some accessories and I’ll probably bring home another one. Thank You again !!!
