April 23, 2013Civilian Marksmanship Program▸Awesome!
Mr. Orest Michaels and CMP staff, This note is quite overdue in large part that I thought I would be back at the south store sooner. I may make it down again sometime in May. Until then:
I just wanted to send you a note thanking your staff. I want to especially thank the South Store Staff. In short, they are awesome! I am an active duty Air Force Officer stationed in Huntsville Alabama. My Father was so impressed with the stories I told him of your operation (former Georgia Air National Guard), he decided to drive down from Atlanta to meet me and see for it himself. Leon was there and was as awesome of an influence as he always is. My Dad and Leon hit it off immediately. It was fun to watch! I cannot tell you how much my Father and I enjoyed talking to and learning from Leon that day. The Staff gave my Dad and I a tour of your entire operation and we had the opportunity to meet the team. They are such wonderful people who really care about what they do. I even met a few fellow Auburn fans! Your volunteers are top notch too!
Most of my Active Duty life led me to live in the West and so to have exclusive time with my Dad at your CMP South Store will NEVER be forgotten. I cherish it (and maybe with some luck will be able to repeat it) everyday I look at my Garands. My Dad and I are proud custodians of some very special M1 Rifles. You can feel the history every time you touch them. It is such an honor to take my retired warriors out to shoot. Between Leon’s tips and the quality of the M1s in my possession, I am getting better than I have ever been on active duty. My oldest rifle is my favorite—there is something really special about that one! Your team has impressed me on every visit. I would be proud to serve with any of them in an Air Force unit!
