When I received the call but was only offered Field and Rack grades, I became concerned that I would not be receiving a 1911 meeting my expectations.

Then when I saw that others with higher RGNs than mine and with later call dates were being offered Service 1911s, I became more concerned.

Today, when I saw the CMP pistol case, I was amazed.

When my FFL opened the case, I was blown away with the fantastic appearance, fit and condition of my (formerly property of the US government) 1911.

All my concerns were wiped out.

Thank you CMP for however I lucked out with this fine firearm.

I don’t know what made it a field grade, but I am well pleased it made it into my hands in its condition.

I am eager to check it out on the bench and at the range.
