Dear CMP, I just received my Springfield M1 Garand rifle from you It is a field grade and I am thrilled to be able to own a great piece of history like this. The rifle looks as though it just came off the battlefield. It has the old oiled stock and the bluing is worn and even has some pitting on the gas tube. From the serial number it appears to have been made in late 1943 and probably saw a lot of action until the end of the war. I sure wish this rifle could talk and tell me more about where it has been. I don’t think I have ever been so interested in a rifle as I am this one. Thank you for making these available to us veterans. Keep up the good work.
