Camp Priceless

Civilian Marksmanship Program▸Camp PricelessThe children are back in school, and I finally have a child-free moment to start attacking that to-do list.
Tops on the list is a very big Thank You. My daughter, Claire Spina, and I attended the Advanced Standing Camp in Colorado Springs in August. We weren’t half way through the first day when I sent a note home to my husband (a parent coach for our school rifle team) saying that the trip/expense/effort was already worth it. Dan Durbin and Sommer Wood took great care to see that the camp structure was tailored for the age and skill level of the campers. The schedule and material was well thought out and concise. The counselors were fantastic and engaged. Claire worked with Dan Hermsmeier; he is a thoughtful and knowledgable shooter, and we look forward to following his career.
We loved having Amanda Furrer contributing to discussions, and the panel of Olympic athletes on the final day was priceless. The athletes were thoughtful and encouraging — it was so much more than a simple meet and greet and sign an autograph, which they were also happy to do.
Thank you for offering a quality camp to teenagers who love the shooting sports. We look forward to making it to Camp Perry next summer!
PS: We all thought the food at the OTC was top notch, too. A nice treat!
