The Civilian Marksmanship Program (CMP) is pleased to announce the recent acquisition of .30 carbine, .22 pistol, M2 ball, and .22 Long Rifle surplus ammunition supply that will soon become available to CMP customers. Currently, the items are in the cataloging and assessment stage by staff members.

CMP recently received significant quantities of surplus ammunition.

“The CMP plans to make the ammunition available to our loyal constituents sometime this spring, after the surplus ammo goes through all CMP in-processing procedures,” said Mark Johnson, CMP’s Chief Operating Officer and Director of Civilian Marksmanship. “Purchase limits and restrictions will be set to ensure that the mission of CMP is well served.”

The CMP intends on maintaining a surplus ammo inventory large enough to support CMP Matches for the next several years and to provide discounted surplus ammo to competitors attending CMP events. All sales will include set limits to remain in compliance with guidelines specified in the Memorandum of Agreement between the Department of the Army and the CMP. 

Further surplus sales details will be forthcoming in the near future. Commercial ammunition sales are currently available on the CMP E-Store to qualified individuals. Register for an account or browse the CMP E-Store at https://estore.thecmp.org.

      1. Hi Christine…Do you know how the CMP will be notifying existing registered customers when the new e-Store is going to be open? Will it be a simple e-mail alert, or so other way?

        I am primarily interested in resumed military surplus ammunition sales. Thanks.

        1. It just opened up today – The CMP E-Store is back LIVE! Estore items can be purchased minus Ammo. Ammo Sales will be available at a later date. Thank you for your patience during this transition.

  9. I placed an order for M1 carbine ammo. I could not change my address, so I put down my billing address and said “Please ship it here” The response email said my shipping address was the same as my billing address and it was my old address.

    Order number xxxxxx

    How can I assure that my ammo isn’t sent to my old (wrong) address.

      1. I tried to order 30 carbine ammunition but when I got to check out it say club restriction I am a member of the garand. Collectors association and have bought rifles the requirements list the garand collectors club as approved for ammunition purchases I emailed membership card again and tried to call got put on hold for quite awhile then was prompted to leave a message and I did no response yet

  12. I generated an online order for .30 carbine ammo 05/02/23. The shipping status is showing ASAP for a ship date on the website. Can CMP determine when I could expect delivery of the ammo? Thank you.

      1. I finally saved enough to purchase the 400rd package on M2 ball ammo. Went to the site and there were none listed. Just my luck, I expect you sold out. Can you know if that is correct?
        Looks like I also missed out on the 30 carbine ammo.

        1. Not available to NJ customers, Insisting that it me shipped to a FFL, Nonsense! No such requirement! Cannot get anyone from CMP to address the issue. Very disappointed!

  17. I just tried to order a can of the M2 ball. It kicked the order out with the reason ” club “. Does this mean all I have to do is resubmit my club membership information. I recently acquired a m1 garand from the CMP and submitted all of the information. Thanks
