  • October 9
  • November 13
  • December 11

The in-person 1911 sales will be held from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m., at CMP’s 1911 Facility in Anniston, Ala. A set number of 15 to 20 individuals will be allowed in the store to shop at a time. 5. FFL Shipping details

We sincerely apologize for the last-minute closure and any inconvenience it may have caused to those who had planned to visit the 1911 store in June. We truly appreciate your understanding and support as we continue to improve our processes.

In-person 1911 sales are located at 1800 Roberts Drive, Anniston, 36207. Learn more about CMP’s 1911 Pistol Program at https://thecmp.org/sales-and-service/1911-information/.

I’m signed up to order a 1911. Can I show up the 14th and pick it out instead? How bad are the lines? Coming from Texas wanting to know what time to get there.
    Thanks

    Hello
Will everyone that shows up at the Anniston store have an opportunity to purchase a 1911A1? Or will some be turned away? I would be driving from Ky and would like to know before I make plans to visit.

    Thanks.

      Jim,
There are plenty of pistols available and we all groups to shop at once, so the line moves fairly quickly. Have a safe trip and we look forward to seeing you.

Plan on being at the Aug 14 in person sale. What FFL information do I need to bring? Do I need to get a copy of the FFL from the gun shop accepting the transfer or just the info such as name, FFL#, address, and phone number?. Or have them send a copy electronically in advance?
Just trying to make sure I have my ducks in a row.

    Thanks

      Hello Mr. Riley,

We will only need the name and address of the FFL dealer you would like us to use. The sales representative processing your order will handle the remaining details with the dealer.

ALL pistol shipments must be made to a current 01, 02 or 07 FFL dealer. No 03 FFL/C & R holders. FFL MUST maintain normal business hours ex. 8-5.

I’m Active Duty Army. When I purchased an M1 Garand years ago I was able to leave the store with it that day. Can I also leave with the 1911 or do I have to have it shipped?

      Hello Mr. Bargo,

All surplus 1911 pistols, whether purchased online or through the CMP 1911 Store, must be shipped to a Type 01, Type 02, or Type 07 FFLdealer for transfer.

Please let me know if you have any questions.

All models are offered with the exception of US&S I suppose and a Singer would be a rare, rare find!

      Hey Mr. Roger,

      I appreciate your help! 😊

You are correct. The models we currently have available for sale in our store are Colt, Ithaca, and Remington Rand.
Union Switch & Signal (US&S) pistols are typically listed on our auction website, which can be found on GunBroker.com.

    Mrs. Autumn Hoover,
I don’t know where to look for the August availability listing for the M1911A1. In Store purchasing.
    Question #2
Where or what entrance is used to get to the CMP M1911A1 Store.

      Mr. Spencer,
I’m not Autumn, but perhaps i can answer your question as i was present for the July 10th in person sale.
I’m not sure of what you’re asking in the first question, but if your looking for a list of what pistols will be available there isn’t one. What you see on the tables is what you have to choose from. I would imagine there is restocking during the sale.
The 1911 store is at 1800 Roberts Drive. When you pull into the parking lot there is a rather large building on the right. Push the button to the left of the door to be allowed entry.
      Good luck with your search!

      Store Address:
      1800 Roberts Drive

      Hello Mr. Jackson,

The highest grade of pistol we currently offer both in the 1911 store and through online orders is the Service Grade.

If you are interested in higher-condition pistols, we list two Auction Grade pistols on GunBroker each Sunday. These pistols are sold through an auction format, and interested buyers may place bids until the auction closes.

    – Do I need to pre-register to be in a select grouping of the 20 allowed in the store?
    – Can I complete/send you all the required purchase documentation and information prior to the in-person purchase? Or do I just bring all my documents

The gate opened at 6am and there were 12 of us. By 8am there were about 40 or so.when I left around 8:30 there were probably 50 or so in line. I thought there would be far more early so got there at 6. There were enough to go around assuming people were not buying four. Overall it was not nearly as chaotic as when they had a handful of m1 carbines at camp perry. Staff was very helpful as you are not allowed to use your phones to l[k up information.

Regarding purchasing a CMP 1911 in person in Anniston – when is says one of the requirements in order to purchase is “Membership in a CMP affiliated organization,” what does this mean? I’m not familiar with what those organizations are, and would like to know so I can determine if I would be able to purchase one or not. Thank you!

      Hello Mr. Tuck,

Yes sir, everyone is welcome to visit the 1911 Store and select a pistol for purchase. Please note that all firearms purchased through the 1911 Store must be shipped to a Type 01, Type 02, or Type 07 FFL dealer for transfer.

Thank you for your response. Is there an online inventory that is available to review before visiting the store? If so, where?

At any point will you start to accept specific request…???
I bought a Select Grade earlier and I received a 1911A1 with a contractor slide- UHG!!!
I don’t want to buy a pistol sight unseen and receive something like that again for $1300 or less.
    I need a Remington 1911A1 slide- late model…

I also live in NJ – another UGH…!!! So, it is about a 2 day drive to Anniston.
    Thanks!
    /Pete

      Hello Mr. Bluntschli,

With the new online order forms, there is a section where you can add special requests to your order.

Please note that requests cannot be guaranteed, as selection is based on available inventory at the time your pistol is ready to ship.

    Big question 🤔

I know that online, we were allowed the ?4 pistols. If I drive down there to the 1911 Store from Colorado, can I buy another pistol ? Would sure be willing to make the drive for another and to see the store and also check out a Garand or 2

    Good morning!
I’m sure the turnout was huge for the first time.
What is the average price for the 1911 and if we show up, how long can we expect to wait?
We are driving 4 hours to get there and want to prepare as best as possible.

      Hello Mr. Burns,

Thank you for reaching out! We do not sell surplus 1911 magazines separately. Each pistol purchase will include the magazine that was used to test fire that specific pistol.

We appreciate your interest and look forward to seeing you during your visit to the 1911 store!

Chester, the CMP is proud to offer our battle tested 1911s in .45 acp only. 9mm never won a world war, 9mm was on the side that LOST the world war, and the day our red blooded .45 acp 1911s are no longer available, we at the CMP will gladly shut our doors before offering any other caliber, because in our opinion, there IS no other caliber…

I’ve got a John Inglis manufactured Browning high-power that would disagree with that.

US use of the Hi-Power was limited according to Wikipedia:
High-Power pistols were also produced in Canada for Allied use, by John Inglis and Company in Toronto. The plans were sent from the FN factory to the UK when it became clear the Belgian plant would fall into German hands, enabling the Inglis factory to be tooled up for Hi-Power production for Allied use. Inglis produced two versions of the Hi-Power, one with an adjustable rear sight and detachable shoulder stock (primarily for a Nationalist Chinese contract) and one with a fixed rear sight. Production began in late 1944 and they were on issue by the March 1945 Operation Varsity airborne crossing of the Rhine into Germany. The pistol was popular with the British airborne forces as well as covert operations and commando groups such as the Special Operations Executive (SOE), the U.S. Office of Strategic Services (OSS), and the British Special Air Service (SAS) Regiment.
