About CMP Travel Games

The Games, which have been a regular part of the CMP schedule for the last decade, are regional competitions created to give competitors the chance to participate in beloved CMP events found at the National Matches, but on a much smaller scale.

Events fired at the Games include:

  • Garand-Springfield-Vintage-Modern Military Matches
  • Vintage Sniper Match
  • Carbine Match
  • Rimfire Sporter Match
  • Cup Matches (Highpower Rifle Individual and Team Matches)
  • Pistol Individual and Team Matches

The Games also feature a growing field of pistol opportunities to provide guests with even more competitive avenues, and also include the Rifle Marksmanship 101 and the Pistol Marksmanship 101 for new and experienced marksmen. Other informative clinics are conducted throughout the Games Matches by qualified CMP staff members, as well.

KTS Electronic Targets

Participants at the Games rifle events also get a first-hand look at CMP Targets – an electronic target system, powered by Kongsberg Technology Systems, that displays immediate shot scores on a monitor beside each competitor. The use of the targets eliminates the need for pit duty, creating faster match completions and easing the physical wear for competitors. A KTS Journal is also available for competitors.

Popular Games events are also featured at some of our other matches throughout the year, including the Talladega D-Day Matches and Talladega 600 at the “Home of Marksmanship” – Talladega Marksmanship Park in Talladega, Alabama. Competitors may also sign up for Games Events during the National Rifle Matches, held each year on the historic ranges at Camp Perry, Ohio.

Club Pay Back Program

The CMP offers the Club Pay Back Program to affiliated clubs where $5.00 per competitor will be awarded to any CMP Affiliated Club that has 5 or more of their members attending and participating in the marksmanship competition matches held at the event. The club members will need to present his or her club ID card at any of our Games.

Cancellation Policy

Cancellation requests may be submitted by mail, email or phone (419) 635-2141, ext. 706 or 714.

Cancellations received at least 30 days prior to a competitor’s first event will receive a full refund. Cancellation requests received between 29 days and one day prior to the event entered receive a 50% refund of all fees paid; no-shows on the day of the match or cancellation requests received on the day of or after the match will not receive a refund unless the cancellation is caused by bereavement, a medical emergency or CMP error.

The CMP cancellation policy is designed to discourage no-shows and to encourage competitors who know they will not be able to fill their entry slots to report cancellations as soon as possible. No refund will be given if match is cancelled due to inclement weather.

Firearm Inspections

All firearms to be used in any CMP Games or CMP Service Rifle event are required to be inspected by a CMP-sanctioned armorer prior to any live fire at every event.

Competitors will be required to present all applicable scorecards to the CMP Armorer in order to complete the inspection process.

To expedite the inspection process, competitors are requested to apply their competitor label to each score card. Please include the last four digits of the serial number for the firearm to be used in the bottom right hand corner of the scorecard.

Upon completion of the firearm inspection process, each scorecard will receive a stamp of approval from the CMP Armorer, indicating that no safety violations or rules compliance issues were observed at the time of inspection.  Each rifle will also receive an inspection tag, verifying participation in the inspection process. Any inspection tags from prior events are to be removed at the time of inspection.

Upon conclusion of firing, any scorecard received by CMP staff which does not bear the CMP Armorer’s stamp will be entered as “Out-of-Competition”. To accommodate unforeseeable circumstances, competitors will receive a 30-minute window after completion of firing in which a fired rifle may still be inspected.

This enhanced inspection process will aid in ensuring match compliance, as well as promote the safest experience that CMP can provide for all participants on our firing line. Please be advised that CMP Armorers are operating in an advisory role and cannot absolutely certify the safety or compliance of all firearms in the time provided. It is still the responsibility of each competitor to ensure compliance with all CMP mandated safety regulations and match rules. The Armorer’s stamp will not serve as an alibi in the event that a violation is found before, during, or after participation in a match.

Vintage Sniper Team Match Shooting Bags

Update on the shooting bags: Here is a photo to show the new size. After the unveiling of the new CMP Sand Bags for the Vintage Sniper Match, at the Eastern CMP Games, we received some competitor feedback. After reading through all the competitor feedback we have decided to double the size of the CMP Sand Bags for our upcoming events. Thank you to all the competitors who gave us feedback.

CMP Bag contains granulated plastic pellets. CMP Bag is made of a 1000 Denier Cordura fabric material on the front, back, and side surfaces with an anti-skid rubber material on top and bottom surfaces.
