Shoots great!

Civilian Marksmanship Program▸General▸Shoots great!I can hardly express how happy I am with my recent purchase of my M1 from the CMP in respect to both the rifle itself and my experience with the CMP.
I have quite a bit invested in pistols, rifles and shot guns. One of my favorites is a Nazi produced FN 1922 my dear departed stepfather brought back from Germany in the late 50’s after his service in the U.S. Air Force. I had told my wife a while ago I only really wanted one more gun and that was an M14 but with the prospect of spending minimally $1,500 no matter how far and wide I searched I knew it was going to be quite a while before I got one. I had looked at M1s at gun shows but buying one without expert knowledge seemed unrealistic. When I found out about the CMP and their preservation of history through the M1 I could hardly wait to place an order.
I received my M1 surprisingly fast even though they are on back-order. The CMP sales staff was so helpful in my requests for information not only on the status of my M1 order but also on my order of ammo and clips. I’ve not encountered a more professional sales staff anywhere. The rifle itself is beautiful and shoots great! I really like that it came only stained as the process of finishing the stock myself has made me particularly attached to it, just like in the old Marine, “The Rifleman’s Creed.” Again, the CMP turned out to be a remarkable organization in the form of its online forum which was a fantastic resource in helping me selecting pure tung oil and the process of how to prepare the rifle for finishing and how to apply the oil.
I’m also looking forward to future involvement with the CMP. I attended the introductory course and match at Rio Salado Sportsman’s Club in Mesa, Arizona which has really turned me on to getting involved in matches. The enthusiasm of members, such as Mike Kohrs, and their willingness to help and encourage green peas like myself is greatly appreciated.
I could not be happier, Thanks!
