It was worth the wait!

Civilian Marksmanship Program▸General▸It was worth the wait! Finally got an M1 after dragging my feet for years. Wasn’t really sure what to expect, I was hoping for a low number Springfield in decent shape but I would have been content with whatever came. I figured in any event it would involve some stock refinishing and a lot of cleaning, maybe a new barrel if the old one was beat up. I could not be happier with my rifle. Springfield receiver from January 1943. Stock looks new, no dents, hasn’t even been oiled that I can tell. Barrel dated 2/55 appears to have only been proof fired, practically brand new. All the parts are Springfield except the bolt, hammer and gas plug. Put a few clips through it informally and it is just as accurate as my old Rock Island 1903 with half the recoil. Although my eyesight is nothing like it used to be, still 3-4” at 100 yards. Thank you very much for this excellent rifle. It was worth the wait.
