Civilian Marksmanship Program▸State Director▸Texas▸Granbury MCJROTC Crowned 2024 National Precision Air Rifle League ChampionsGranbury, TX – In a thrilling championship match, Granbury MCJROTC delivered their best performance of the season, defeating Everett Sportsman Junior Rifle Club 2453.0 to 2431.6 to claim the title of 2024 National Precision Air Rifle League Champions.
Led by standout shooter Kennedy Wells, who scored an impressive 623.5, the Granbury MCJROTC team demonstrated exceptional skill and composure under pressure. Other contributing team members included Viola Allen, Mataya Turner, Caylynn Price, and Renee Sermarini. Granbury MCJROTC, coached by LtCol Scott Casey, finished the season with a remarkable 9-1 record.
Viola Allen’s outstanding postseason performance earned her the prestigious Orion Precision League Most Valuable Player award. Allen averaged an exceptional 619.9 across the postseason, a key factor in Granbury’s championship run.
Everett Sportsman Junior Rifle Club, based in Everett, PA, and coached by Jim Tegeler, put up a strong fight in the final. The team was led by Karlie Lynn, who scored 621.7, supported by teammates Kinzey Williams, Jolynn Mickle, Laila Mills, and Madison Smith. Everett concluded their successful season with an 8-2 record.
The National Precision Air Rifle League is a premier competition for high school teams and junior rifle clubs across the nation. The league features an eight-week regular season followed by a postseason single-elimination tournament for the top eight teams in the Champions Division. Matches mirror Olympic standards, with athletes shooting 60 shots in the standing position, scored in decimals for a maximum of 10.9 points per shot. Each team’s score is calculated from the top four individual performances in each match.
The 2024 season, sponsored by Scopos, showcased the best young talent in the sport. Scopos, based in Manassas, VA, is renowned for its Orion Scoring System and Athena Electronic Scoring Target System. This year, Zion Benton NJROTC claimed the Sporter League title, while Granbury MCJROTC earned top honors in the Precision League.
