Civilian Marksmanship Program▸The First Shot▸CMP to Update Business SystemsEnhancing the Customer Experience for Firearms Enthusiasts and Competitors
The Civilian Marksmanship Program (CMP) has long been a cornerstone for American firearms enthusiasts, history buffs, and competitive shooters. The CMP’s mission revolves around promoting firearms safety training and marksmanship, particularly among the nation’s youth. This month, we’re excited to launch a new Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) system to serve our customers and competitors faster and more efficiently.
Technology continues to move to cloud-centric systems and is now seen as the fundamental backbone for innovation, digital transformation, and business agility.
The CMP is leveraging this technology advancement with a significant update of our ERP system, a business management software that integrates and manages core business processes—such as finance, inventory management, procurement, order processing, supply chain, and more—into one unified system. This initiative will modernize CMP’s operations, streamline the customer experience, and pave the way for future growth.
Historically, the CMP has operated with a blend of legacy software, paper-based and manual verification processes. While these methods have served the organization well, they are increasingly inadequate in a world where speed, transparency, and digital accessibility are paramount.
The implementation timeline will be as follows:
Sept 18 – Customers with orders ready to process will receive an email with their payment link. Customers will have until Sept 23 (before 5PM ET) to process their payment.
Sept 23 at 5PM ET – The CMP eStore will temporarily shut down so our staff can implement our new processing system. At this time, no payments will be accepted via our eStore or Competition Tracker. Competitors will still be able to register for matches, however payments will not be accepted until Oct 1.
Sept 25-26 – Anniston Store will be closed.
Sept 25-27 – Ohio Store will be closed.
Oct 1 – The CMP eStore will resume and allow orders and payments. Competition Tracker payments will also resume at this time.
During implementation, our ranges will be open but rifles will not be available for sale.
Many thanks for the work you all do to support the CMP and the services you provide to us as the ordering public! Much success with the system!
will the Anniston store be open, up and running for sales on Thurs. Oct. 2nd.?
Trying to plan travel time…thanks
Josh,
Yes, our Anniston store will be open.
Thanks,
Christine
Hi,
Is there any new status as to when you will have the M1903-A3 available for sale?
Thanks
Richard,
I have not heard anything on the M1903-A3s being available for sale. We will make an announcement once we have finalized the details.
Thank you,
Christine
So if I placed an order late August, when will the order will be processed and ready to be paid for? September 18?
Dominik,
It depends on your order. If it was an e-Store order, then it is possible that it will be processed right away. If it was an order for a rifle or pistol, then there is a backlog of orders and more than likely, you will not be contacted until our new system is in place.
Thank you,
Christine
I look forward to faster processing of purchases at the Talladega store.
Conrad,
So do we! Thank you for your support!
Christine
Today i filled out the online pre order form, do i need to do anything additional? When should i expect an email regarding my pre order?
Dempsey,
Once you fill out the preorder form, you will receive an automated email right away. Once your order is ready to process, our staff will send you another email with a link for your payment on our eStore.
Thanks,
Christine
Will the CMP store at the Talladega range be open for sales during this period?
Gary,
Yes the Talladega Pro Shop will be open. However, rifles sales will not be available. You can browse our selection, fill out the paperwork and we will have to process the order and ship after October 1st when our new systems is online.
Thanks,
Christine
