Western CMP Games, CMP Pistol & CMP Cup Matches

The Western CMP Games, CMP Pistol & CMP Cup Matches, sponsored by the Civilian Marksmanship Program, will be held at the Ben Avery Shooting Facility, Arizona. The competition features special hospitality events and prize awards.

CMP Western Games include three days of Pistol Matches:

  • CMP Match Pistol 2700
  • CMP .22 Rimfire Pistol EIC
  • CMP EIC Service Pistol
  • CMP Service Revolver EIC
  • CMP 1911 As-Issued Pistol
  • Military & Police Service Pistol

The Western CMP Rifle Games Matches:

  • Garand/Springfield/Vintage & Modern Military Matches
  • Carbine
  • Vintage Sniper Team Match
  • Rifle Marksmanship 101/M16 Match

The CMP Highpower Matches:

  • CMP Mid-Range 3X600
  • 2-Man Team Match
  • CMP 800 Aggregate Matches
  • CMP Service Rifle EIC

All competitors firing on the Highpower range will be firing on Kongsberg Electronic Targets (KTS). The KTS system registers each shot and relays the location and score value to a monitor beside each shooter on the firing line. Electronic Target Scoring Rules are available here.

We’re proud to offer educational Marksmanship 101 Courses, an extension of the National Matches Small Arms Firing Schools, at each Travel Games event. These are designed for all experience levels and led by experienced military/civilian instructors. All equipment provided by the CMP!

DIRECTIONS TO THE BEN AVERY SHOOTING FACILITY AND HIGHPOWER RANGE

The Ben Avery (Black Canyon) Shooting Facility is located 25 miles north of Phoenix, AZ. It is ½ mile west of I-17 on the Carefree Highway (Exit 223).

DIRECTIONS TO THE ACTIVITY CENTER FOR CLINICS AND COOKOUTS

Upon entering the Ben Avery Shooting Facility off Carefree Highway, you will follow the entrance road north. As this entrance road turns to the west, you will notice the first range entrance as being the smallbore range. The next parking lot entrance will be the Activity Center. This entrance will be on your right.

Competitors who plan to stay overnight near the Ben Avery Shooting Facility should stay north of the Phoenix area. There are numerous motels in this area, many with attractively priced rooms. There are also RV sites and camp sites at the Ben Avery Shooting Facility. The camping area has electricity, water and toilet facilities available during the matches for competitors only.
