CMP Announces New Chief Competitions Officers

With the goal of applying more focus to our growing field of events, the Civilian Marksmanship Program (CMP) is thrilled to announce two new exciting additions to our leadership team – Chief Competitions Officer, International Disciplines, and Chief Competitions Officer, National Disciplines.
International Disciplines will cover those events associated with the International Shooting Sports Federation (ISSF) as well as working with the national governing body for Olympic-style marksmanship (USA Shooting) and developing grassroot athletes in air gun and smallbore.
National Disciplines will include events and programs for traditional rifle, pistol and mid/long-range rifle competition, such as those fired during the CMP Travel Games series and the annual National Matches at Camp Perry, as well as the overseeing of CMP Talladega Marksmanship Park in Alabama.
Leading the International Disciplines will be CMP’s current International Programs Manager, Brad Donoho, while CMP’s Highpower Manager, Brian Williams, will take charge of National Disciplines.

Donoho has been a lifelong lover of marksmanship and started in the sport competitively as a cadet on his high school JROTC rifle team. He eventually moved on to the collegiate level as a member of the University of Kentucky Division I Rifle Team, where he first became connected with the CMP as a Junior Rifle Camp counselor early into the program’s existence.

Since then, Donoho has spent the next 19 years with the CMP, working in programs and cultivating such initiatives as Camp Riflery, the JROTC Three-Position air rifle national competition series and building CMP’s smallbore division from the ground up.
“My passion has been growing the shooting sports,” Donoho said.
He also continues work with the NCAA as Technical Director for the National Championships each year and has been instrumental in designing CMP’s current air gun facilities in Ohio and Alabama. He also initiated and led the development of CMP’s latest expansion project at Camp Perry, the Gary Anderson CMP Competition Complex.
“It is an incredible honor to be entrusted with the role of Chief Competitions Officer for International Disciplines,” he said. “I am deeply grateful to the CMP leadership for believing in me and giving me the opportunity to lead the continued improvement of our competitions.”

Brian Williams, Chief Competitions Officer, National Disciplines:
Williams has been with the CMP for the last three years, beginning as the Highpower Specialist before becoming Highpower Manager shortly after.
His career in marksmanship began simply with recreational shooting near his family home while growing up in Western New York. After visiting a gun range on a whim later on in life, he was introduced to the sportier side of marksmanship and fired in his first competition in 2008.
“From there, I was hooked,” he said.
His first exposure to the CMP was at the National Matches in 2011, when he began his journey toward a Distinguished Rifleman Badge. Since then, he has gone on to claim several awards and national records at CMP Travel Games events and the annual National Matches in vintage and aggregate competitions – some that still exist today.
He earned his Distinguished Badge in 2012 and also made history as the first the recipient of the Garand Collectors Association’s Master Marksman Medal in 2023.
“I am incredibly excited for the opportunity to help shape the future of a sport that I have come to love,” he said of his new position as Chief Competitions Officer. “It is a privilege to serve the shooting community, and I look forward to working alongside our dedicated staff, volunteers and competitors to ensure our competitions continue to grow, evolve and thrive for generations to come.”
