Civilian Marksmanship Program▸The First Shot▸CMP Revives Speed Event at 2026 Bianchi Cup Action Pistol TournamentHALLSVILLE, Mo. – The Civilian Marksmanship Program (CMP) is excited to announce the return of the popular Speed Event for the 2026 CMP Bianchi Cup! The match also commemorates the 50th anniversary of the International Practical Shooting Confederation (IPSC).
In partnership with the Green Valley Rifle & Pistol Club, where the tournament has been held for over four decades, the first CMP Bianchi Cup Speed Event will follow the Rimfire, Shoot Offs and special “Win Jim’s Money” fun match as a bonus offering on the event schedule.

Those placing in the Top Eight of each Division (Open, Metallic, Production Optics and Production) will be invited to participate in the Speed Event. After those groups compete, other interested individuals are welcome to sign up to run the course.
Spectators welcome and encouraged to view this exciting match!
This year’s Speed Event will be similar to those of the past, though there are some differences in procedures and rules to ensure competitors use safe, CMP-approved equipment.
Qualification:
Qualification for the Speed Event is based on Championship Entry, the competitor’s primary centerfire pistol. Second Gun results will not be eligible.
Equipment Rules:
To ensure safety and gear compliance, competitors must use the inspected, serial-numbered pistol they fired in the Championship Event and gear legal for their registered division.
Procedure:
The range will have two competitor boxes with five falling steel targets in a mirror image. One steel target will be designated as the Stop Plate.
Competitors will be announced and placed into a ladder bracket. The competitor with the highest championship score will choose sides, either the right or the left box. Competitors who are not present when called will forfeit their position to the next competitor in the results for the specific division. Up to four additional competitors will be called. If none are present, the bout will be considered forfeit.
The start position is wrists above shoulders, and the start signal is audible. At the buzzer, shooters will engage their targets with a maximum of six shots. The Stop Plate must be engaged last. The competitor with the most targets down in the fastest time will be designated the winner of the bout. A ladder draw format will be used to decide match-ups.
