Civilian Marksmanship Program▸The First Shot▸Liming Claims Multiple Pistol Wins at 2026 Talladega Spring ClassicTALLADEGA, Ala. – SSG Christopher Liming, 52, of Tampa, FL, attended his first Talladega Spring Classic in March and took home plenty of souvenirs to remember the trip.
Not only did Liming claim the overall win in the Service Pistol EIC Match but also in the Service Revolver EIC Match and the Any Sights portion of the .22 Rimfire, Center Fire and .45 Pistol Aggregates – leading to yet another title in the culminating 2700 Pistol Aggregate.
Over 340 individuals attended the 2026 Talladega Spring Classic, participating in the lineup of rifle, pistol and shotgun events for all experience levels. The event was held March 17-22 at the Civilian Marksmanship Program’s (CMP) Talladega Marksmanship Park in Alabama.

Also nabbing multiple victories was MSG Robert Yeager, 37, of Woodford, VA, who earned the M16 EIC Rifle Match win (part of the Rifle Marksmanship 101 educational course) before switching over to pistol to overtake the Metallic Sights class of the Center Fire 900 Pistol Aggregate.
SFC Christopher Swank, 37, of Hardinsburg, KY, earned the other Metallic Sights 900 wins (in the .22 Rimfire and .45 Pistol Aggregates), helping to lead him to the Metallics Sights 2700 Aggregate title.
In rifle, Chance Cavin, 38, of Madison, MS, found overall wins in the Carbine and Springfield Matches, eventually earning the Three-Gun Aggregate for his consistent performances in the GSMM events (Garand, Modern/Vintage Military). Claiming the Four-Gun Aggregate was Kyle Kirschenmann, 62, of Tellico Plains, TN.
Other leaders in the GSMM events include Keith Schachle, 67, of Jasper, GA, who earned wins in the Vintage and Modern Military Matches, as well as 1st Lt. Elijah Edwards, 25, of Columbus, MS, who claimed the Garand Match.
Edwards went on to earn the Service Rifle 2400 Rifle Aggregate title as Robert Greene, 50, of Wakefield, MA, was the top Match Rifle competitor in the event.
Greene was also the top Match Rifle individual in the Mid-Range 2×600, with SGT Adam Fitzpatrick, 30, of Columbus, GA, overtaking the Service Rifle portion.
In the shotgun team event, the pair Howard-Cranford (Charles Cranford, Kevin Howard) racked up a score of 167 to claim the event by only a two-point margin.

Special recognition also goes to Richard Bonwell, 80, who was the overall winner of the M17 Pistol Match – part of the Pistol Marksmanship 101 Course for those wishing to learn more about the fundamentals of the sport.
With his win, Bonwell earned his first four Excellence-In-Competition (EIC) points toward a Service Pistol Distinguished Badge and his first four EIC points ever. It was also his first trip to the Talladega Spring Classic, making the over 4,400-mile trek from Alaska.
