In the distant past I ran a DCM/CMP youth shooting club.In about 1996 I think the CMP was short of money due to senator teddy kennedy trying to shut you down. I was offered to buy the club 22 target rifles that we had been loaned over the years: I did so . Do you know when that happened? Before that offer the DCM had never offered to sell us 22 target rifles, but they were very anxious so get us to buy them, I thought to get $ to keep operating?
Andrew,
I don’t know the answer to your question but I’ll forward that onto our Officers. We are offering a few .22 rifles for sale at the moment – here’s the link: https://thecmp.org/cmp_sales/rifle-sales/22-surplus-rifles/.
Thanks,
Christine
Andrew,
In 1996, legislation was approved to establish a new CMP (Corporation for the Promotion of Rifle Practice and Firearm Safety) as a federally chartered, non-profit (501 c 3) corporation. The Army was authorized to transfer surplus rifles and ammunition to the new CMP, which it could sell to qualified U. S. citizens to fund the program. The Secretary of the Army appointed the CMP’s first Board of Directors, which since then has been self-sustaining. It was the newly privatized CMP Board that offered your club the opportunity to buy the 22 target rifles that had previously been loaned to them by the Army’s ODCM.

I put an order for a garand in October, received confirmation, and then never heard anything after. How can I find out what the status of my order is? I hope to have it soon.
Isaac,
I believe our sales staff was working on orders received in September before the Holiday break, so your order should be processing soon. With our new system, we’ve experienced a few delays and getting through the learning curve. Thank you for your patience,
Christine
Hello,
I submitted an order for a m1 garand and have tried emailing for updated information. I also wanted to ask some questions but can’t seem to get ahold of anyone. Is there anyone I would be able to get ahold of that would be able to help me?
Gabriel,
I’ll forward your inquiry to our Lead Sales Association and have our Sales Team reach out to you.
Thanks,
Christine
Christine, I have had similar issue with 1911 order. I emailed several times over past few months and called and left VMs but so far no response. I just wanted to verify that I’m on the list still and so far no update aside from Jan 5-Feb 10th on the status page. I did get an email that my packet was received in early July but with the rounds being shifted right wanted to be sure all is still ok with my packet. I also wanted to ask if we can request more than 1 pistol towards our lifetime limit per this round?
Any assistance is helpful.
v/r,
Wyatt Hughes
Wyatt,
I’ll forward your inquiry onto our 1911 Lead Sales Associate and someone will be in touch soon.
Thanks,
Christine
I need the same, I have to modify an order form and have been sending emails with no reply
Jeffrey,
I’ll forward your inquiry to our Lead Sales Association and have our Sales Team reach out to you.
Thanks,
Christine
Having difficulty reaching a person to modify an order. Can I get an email with a good phone number?
Thanks
Tim,
I will forward your inquiry to our Lead Sales Association and have them give you a call or email.
Thanks,
Christine
I’m a little frustrated with how my request was handled and want to clarify my original concern. I contacted CMP to ask whether allowing weekend delivery could help reduce shipping time. I understand now that your policy does not allow weekend delivery; however, that request was misunderstood, and FedEx was instructed to return the rifle to the CMP warehouse. This was not what I asked for and directly conflicted with my stated concern.
My original concern was specifically to avoid the rifle spending extended time in FedEx’s possession, as I have had prior issues with FedEx shipments. Returning the package to the warehouse—knowing it would be closed for the holidays—resulted in the rifle remaining with FedEx even longer, which is exactly what I was trying to prevent.
At this point, the rifle has been in FedEx’s possession for over two weeks and has likely been moved between facilities and trucks during that time. I understand mistakes happen and it’s no one’s fault. I respectfully ask that the package be inspected for any damage or signs of tampering before it is shipped back out to me, and I would appreciate any assistance in resolving this situation.
Jorge,
I will forward your inquiry onto our Sales Managers and they will be able to respond to you directly via email.
Thanks,
Christine
We showed up Friday the 2nd as it was said the range would be open along with 10 others. The gates were closed. The phone voicemail says they are closed through the 1st. Website says open Friday the 3rd which doesn’t exist. Frustrating.
Hayden,
I’m sorry about the range being closed – we made a last minute change this week. I’ll have our Park Manager, Jeremy, reach out to you when he returns to the office.
Thanks,
Christine
Christine, I can’t get anyone to reply or answer emails. I have tried to order from the estore and I get a message that says my email is associated with multiple accounts which I don’t understand, have been a CMP customer since the early 1990’s. Can someone please get this fixed so I can log in?
Larry,
I’m forwarding your inquiry onto Laura and she will be able to help assist you with your eStore account.
Thanks,
Christine
Is there a way to find out if my order for a Tisas 1911A1 was received? I mailed it on, I believe, the week of 12/15. I’m hoping it was received to be able to get the $429.99 price.
Ronald,
I will forward your Tisas order inquiry onto Lexi, who can confirm that she received your order.
Thanks,
Christine
Thank you.
I put an order for chrome M1917s back in November; in the mean time my drivers license needed to be renewed. Will I need to reorder with my new license? I tried using the contact email but got no response. Thank you for any assistance you can provide.
Jacob,
I’ll forward your inquiry onto our Lead Sales Associate and have her respond back to you via email.
Thank you,
Christine
Hello I need help getting my order authorized to be delivered on weekends. My ffl is closed Monday and I don’t want it sitting around in the system longer than it needs too.
Jorge,
I have forwarded your question to our Surplus Rifle Sales supervisor, you should have a response soon. ( Our offices will be closed for the Holiday)
Jackie

? Received a message ….about the 1911 pistols. Filled out the info ?? then somewhere I thought I saw where we could order 3 ??? I did the 2 on the form..backed up and change to 3 …?? Bingo .. told to call in and fix it ?? Lots of time wasted. Could simply have had me change back to 2 ???
ANYWAY …………. MERRY CHRISTMAS >>><<<>> Has been a marvelous -pleasure with the NRA for over 60 years !! In the 1950’s .. I was on a SHOOTING TEAM on Staten Island with possibly one of the rifles being sold now !!
Top39,
Thanks for your comment. If you have any questions regarding your 1911 order, you can email [email protected].
Have a Merry Christmas,
Christine
That was fast …. THANK YOU … I will give that a “shot” ……..
MERRY CHRISTMAS TO YOU AND YOURS !!!
Hello,
I’ve been trying for 3-4 weeks to contact customer service about .22 surplus rifle orders. I’ve called at least 10 times and left at least 10 voicemails with ‘Tracy’ and not a single call or VM has been returned. I even resorted to calling the Anniston store on a Thursday but no one answered and no one returned my voicemail. Perhaps someone should make a welfare check on them to see if they’re OK. I’ve even used the primary CMP ‘contact us’ email form and no one replied to that either. My phone works fine, my voicemail works fine, and there is nothing in my spam. This is highly unusual. Joe
Joe,
Thanks for your email – I’ll forward onto our Chief Operating Officer and Lead Sales Associate. Please know that our South staff is very busy processing orders and shipping as we tried to get as many orders out the door before the Christmas break.
Thanks,
Christine
Joe, I’ve had the same problem and put my order for a new “M1 Garand by CMP” in as ‘recent’ as 01 October 2025. Called many times, never any answers. Left voicemails, no returned calls. Sent emails, no reply. I understand it’s busy in the holiday season, but I’d have expected more than 0 contact since the automated email I received on 01 October. It’s rather frustrating.
William,
I’m sorry you have had no communication from our Sales staff. I forwarded your inquiry to our Commercial M1 Department and hopefully you will hear from someone soon.
Thanks,
Christine
Thanks, Christine! I appreciate you!
I am not sure of the departments there and can I come to CMP North on December 18th to look at the rack of 22’s? If not when would be the earliest.
Thank you in advance,
Joe
Joe,
Our North Store is open on Saturdays only at this time. Unfortunately, our North Store did not receive a quantity of .22s to sell. You can visit our stores in Alabama or order online at https://thecmp.org/cmp_sales/rifle-sales/22-surplus-rifles/.
Thanks,
Christine
As the month becomes more crazy, just want to wish you all Merry Christmas and a prosperous New Year
Is there a way we can check for a certain serial # on the .22 surplus target rifles?
I would love to buy the .22 target rifle I had in high school JROTC.
thanks.
Pete Evans
Pete,
I’ll forward your request onto our staff member that performs the serial number searches. She can let you know the fee and information available.
Thanks,
Christine
Hey there, I placed my order for another m1 garand back in the end of August, is there a chance I will receive it by the end of the year? Thanks
Andrew,
I have sent your question to our south staff, you should receive a response soon.
Jackie
Looks like all the “Christmas guns” will have to wait till Jan. 7th!! Not very customer friendly.
I have sent your comments to our gun sales staff, you should receive a response soon.
Jackie

I’m in the same boat, order submitted and confirmed received in mid-September and haven’t heard back yet – I just figured y’all are swamped and trust that you’ll get to me eventually, no rush.
Cheers, Merry Christmas, and Happy Holidays!
Jason,
There is a bit of a wait at this time for rifle orders but we do hope to fulfill all orders we have received. You can send an email to [email protected] but there may be a delay in receiving a response.
