CMP Junior Highpower Rifle Clinic

Civilian Marksmanship ProgramCMP Junior Highpower Rifle Clinic

Join us July 25-26, 2026

One of the most popular CMP youth marksmanship clinics held during the National Matches is the CMP Highpower Rifle Clinic. Many junior shooters participate in highpower service rifle events, often as members of their state association’s junior highpower teams. This clinic, offered at Camp Perry, Ohio, takes place just prior to the National Trophy Rifle Matches.

This year’s instruction will be led by several National Champions from the Veterans Family Brigade, providing participants with an exceptional learning experience. Because the clinic offers rare one‑on‑one coaching from some of the most accomplished Service Rifle competitors ever to step onto the firing line, space is extremely limited. This is truly a unique opportunity for young marksmen looking to elevate their skills.

The clinic is open to junior highpower rifle shooters who have previous service rifle competition experience and are classified as a Sharpshooter or higher. Juniors who are new to highpower rifle shooting are required to attend a Rifle Small Arms Firing School first before registering for the CMP Junior Highpower Clinic.

Participants in the clinic must bring their own rifles, ammunition and shooting equipment. There will be no ammunition issued for the clinic.

The CMP Junior Highpower Clinic combines real classroom instruction with live fire range practice.

About the Clinic

The three-day clinic focuses on more advanced training outside of fundamentals, including weather conditions, how to read wind, equipment use, shooting positions and rulebook standards. Juniors in the clinic spend a half day in the classroom, followed by dry-firing on Petrarca Range and two days of live-fire at 200, 300 and 600 yards. Those youth athletes who would like to attend this clinic must first attend the Rifle Small Arms Firing School.

Training is led by certified CMP personnel, highly trained civilian marksmen and women and military instructors. Juniors will receive one-on-one coaching during live-fire days.

The clinic will conclude in time for all clinic students to participate in the Squadded Practice. All students will receive a CMP Junior Highpower Rifle Clinic T-shirt, certificate and school handout materials.

Note: The CMP Junior Highpower Clinic will not include a Rifle EIC match. If juniors with no EIC points are interested in earning “introductory” EIC points, they should attend the Rifle Small Arms Firing School.
