Civilian Marksmanship Program▸General▸I recently received my mail order M1 service grade rifle. I asked in my packet for a rifle to honor the memory of my late Grandfather, who served in the Army Infantry in WWII, the Battle of the Bulge/Siegfried line/Hurtgen Forest campaigns. He was wounded, and received the Purple Heart, and Bronze Star awards. He passed away in 2012, and I miss him dearly. I am proud to say the good folks at the CMP delivered. I asked for, and received a receiver, barrel and stock from that era. The condition looks to me to be good for it’s age, and it’s a testament to it’s design and durability. I only wish he were alive for me to share it with him. I’m glad I can support marksmanship, and the memory of JCG, and his rifle. Thank you everyone at the CMP, and special thanks to armorer 12 for keeping the memory of my Grandfather alive for years to come.
