Auction Bidding

Civilian Marksmanship Program▸Auction▸Auction BiddingAs the successful bidder on two CMP Auction rifles several weeks apart and both 4-digit serial numbers (a Springfield Armory Model 1903, with a SA 3 – 38 Barrel and a RA-1 Cartouche on the stock and a Rock Island Arsenal Model 1903, with a SA 8 – 44 Barrel and a Benicia Arsenal – Inspector Unknown Cartouche on the stock), my purchase required direct interaction with Auction personnel, since both rifles were historically significant and not wishing to risk shipping.
A request was made to do an in-person purchase / transfer at CMP Auction and to the CMP Custom Shop for a Return Authorization to deep clean both rifles. The RA’s were received within a few weeks and the in-person Auction purchase / transfer was completed. Both rifles were then delivered directly to the Custom Shop on the same trip. The Auction personnel were extraordinarily friendly, professional, and accommodating, as were the Custom Shop personnel. It was a pleasure to interact with them.
The ”Help” section of the Auction site explains the Auction process / requirements very clearly. The numerous pictures and angles of the assembled / disassembled items with the Data Sheets on the CMP Auction site were invaluable in evaluating / bidding the Auction.
