Civilian Marksmanship Program▸The First Shot▸GunBroker Partnership FAQs
Following the recent announcement of CMP’s partnership with GunBroker.com, we wanted to address a few frequently asked questions from our supporters on some of the more specific details of this new association.
Why has CMP partnered with GunBroker.com?
Our primary goals with partnering with GunBroker are to update the quality of our Auction services and to allow more eligible U.S. citizens the opportunity to own a valued piece of our shared history.
Will CMP items still be for CMP members only or open to anyone? In other words, will someone who is not currently involved with the CMP have to become involved with the CMP?
Purchases made through the Gunbroker.com platform remain subject to all purchase and eligibility requirements enforced for other CMP sales.
How will GunBroker ensure CMP membership and purchasing requirements are met?
All purchase and payment activity will be handled through CMP’s internal systems and subject to all eligibility requirements already enforced in those systems. For a full overview of purchase and eligibility requirements, please visit our CMP Purchase Eligibility site.
Will there be GunBroker fees attached to purchases?
As a partnered non-profit, purchases made through the CMP store on GunBroker.com will not be subject to any additional fees.
Will prices of auction items be affected by using GunBroker opposed to CMP’s own Auction Site?
Our pricing structure for “Buy-Now” items will not be affected by the transition. “Buy-Now” pricing will remain consistent with CMP’s standard pricing structure for each grade.
CMP cannot estimate the impact that increased visibility might have on our standard format Auction listings, but minimum bids and reserve policies will not change.
Is GunBroker account information secure?
All eligibility verification and invoicing will still be handled through the CMP.
Any questions about the security of information on the GunBroker.com platform should be directed to the GunBroker Help Center at https://support.gunbroker.com/hc/en-us.
Note from the CMP:
We understand this evolution of our Auction program is a major shift in the process, but we are confident this transition will benefit the firearm community by extending our reach outside of our own platforms. Of course, the quality and extraordinary nature of our auction items will continue as we enter this new partnership.
We’d like to remind our supporters that any revenue from gun sales funds the many CMP training and safety programs, youth programs and competitions held nationwide throughout the year. CMP intentionally subsidizes these events to sustain and grow shooting sports in the USA, and these efforts have been increasingly effective, thanks to the support we receive through sales such as these.
