CMP Board Member Mark Averill visits Norwich University
CMP Board Member Mark Averill and former Acting Secretary of the US Army, visited Norwich University in September 2026 while attending CMP’s New England Games in Jericho, Vermont. Norwich is one of the nation’s Senior Military Colleges (SMC’s).
During the visit, Averill met with members of the Norwich rifle program, university admissions staff, and alumni representatives to discuss opportunities for collaboration with CMP. Conversations included support for collegiate marksmanship programs, promotion of the CMP Scholarship Program, and ways CMP can assist programs working to rebuild and grow.
The visit also highlighted the resilience of the Norwich rifle team. After losing its original range years ago, supporters and alumni came together to construct the facility the team uses today, demonstrating a strong commitment to collegiate marksmanship.
“It was encouraging to see the dedication of the coaches, athletes, alumni, and university supporters who continue to invest in the future of marksmanship,” Averill said.
